For Arabic teachers

Make vocabulary the liveliest part of your Arabic class

Your students play a live vocabulary game on their phones. You get a report of the words your class found hardest, and your students keep practising between classes with word pages, flashcards and real clips of native speakers. Try it free with one class.

Students join with a code. No app, and no account needed to play.

What makes ArabicRoom different

Every word, said by real Arabic speakers

Our archive holds 104,169 short clips of native speakers in real Arabic videos, for 12,897 words. Each clip starts at the sentence where the word is said, with the sentence on screen. Students hear natural pronunciation, not a recording made for learners.

On every word page

Each word in our Vocab Lists has its own page with its meaning, an example and, where we have them, its clips.

Hear It, a listening game

Students hear a real clip and pick the word they heard among four. The sentence shows with a gap, or stays hidden for a bonus.

In review and flashcards

Clips play on the flashcards of a Vocab List and on Smart Review cards, so students hear each word as they review it.

After VocabHunter

In your report and in each student's list of mistakes, every word has a button to hear it in a real clip.

One class, three moments

Here is what a week with ArabicRoom looks like for a teacher.

Before class

  • Choose one of our Vocab Lists, organised by course and lesson.
  • Or make your own Practice Set: type the words, import a CSV file, or let Fasiha write a set from a topic.
  • Any list with four or more words and their meanings is ready to play.

During class

  • Open VocabHunter on the classroom screen and create a room.
  • Students join from their phones with the room code or a QR code.
  • You decide the pace: pause, move on, or give everyone 15 more seconds.

After class

  • Class results show the words your class missed most, and each student's score.
  • Send the hardest words, plus the words each student missed, to their Smart Review.
  • Save them as a Practice Set for next class, or download a CSV file.

Practice Sets

Your own words, ready to play in minutes

A Practice Set is your list: the words of this week's chapter, your textbook or your next quiz.

  1. Add your words Type them one by one, or import a CSV file (English or Arabic column names).
  2. Let Fasiha fill in the rest Paste a list of Arabic words, one per line. Fasiha adds the meaning, root, word type and an example sentence with its translation. Words that are already in our Vocab Lists are filled from them.
  3. Or start from a topic Ask Fasiha for a whole set, like "food for beginners" or "university life", and edit any word you like.
  4. Play it Host VocabHunter with it in class, and try it yourself in the solo games, Hear It included. After the game, one click sends the words each student needs most to that student's own review list, where they can practise them alone.

Adding words by hand or from a CSV file is free (3 sets of 30 words on the free plan). Fasiha's help needs Pro or University access.

The class game

VocabHunter: a live game built for Arabic vocabulary

Each student plays with a creature that grows as they answer correctly. The class plays alone or in crews, and every score is counted on our server, so the game stays fair.

Crews

Play everyone-for-themselves, or in 2 to 4 crews: Falcons, Camels, Oryx and Dolphins. The game balances the crews, and you can place students yourself.

One goal for the whole class

Every correct answer, from anyone, hits the Fog of Forgetting. The class wins together when enough answers are right.

Five kinds of questions

Meaning, fill in the blank, unscramble the letters, speed and memory. Mix them as you like.

Creatures that grow

Each creature grows through five stages as its student answers correctly. Students choose its colour and accessory before the game starts.

You set the pace

Choose 5 to 30 questions and 8 to 30 seconds each. During the game, pause, move on, add 15 seconds for everyone, or change the time per question.

Joyful, but under your control

Short celebrations for streaks and comebacks, and stickers students send to the class screen. You can switch both off.

Easy to join

Up to 150 students per game. They join with the code, a QR code or a link, in the browser of any phone or laptop.

Guests keep their game

Students can play as guests. If they create a free account afterwards, they keep their creature and the words they missed.

After the game

Class results: see what your class still needs

Every class game is saved. Open Class results from your dashboard to see, for each game, the words missed most and how each student did. Only the teacher who ran the game sees these results.

One click sends the hardest words, and each student's own misses, to their Smart Review. Every student with an account gets a notification with a Start Review button and finds the words in a list named after your class.

Between classes, students keep practising

Flashcards and Smart Review

Students review a list with flashcards. Smart Review brings each saved word back shortly before it is forgotten.

Five games to play alone

Quick Quiz, Fill in the Blanks, Word Ordering, Memory Match and Hear It, with any list.

English or Arabic interface

Each student chooses the language of the menus and buttons.

Questions teachers ask

Do my students need an account?

Not to play a class game: they join with the room code and a name. An account lets them save words, use Smart Review and keep their results.

Can I use the words from my own textbook?

Yes. Make a Practice Set from your list: type it, or import it from a CSV file. Our ready-made Vocab Lists are organised by course and lesson.

What do I need in the classroom?

A screen or projector for the class display, and an internet connection. Students use the browser on their phones; there is nothing to install.

How long does a game take?

You choose: 5 to 30 questions, 8 to 30 seconds each. With the default settings, 10 questions of 15 seconds, a game takes a few minutes.

Who can see the results?

Class results are shown only to the teacher who ran the game. Each student sees their own progress in their dashboard.

How do I get started?
